Description
Araucano Carmenere
One of the oldest grape varieties in Bordeaux, from where it originates (Medoc). Long mistaken for Merlot in Chile due to its appearance and characteristics, it has become the flagship variety of Chilean winemaking.
WINEMAKING TECHNIQUES
Harvesting in crates, plot-by-plot selection. Double sorting on arrival, of bunches and grapes, to remove impurities.
Chilling in cold storage, cold crushing. Vatting in cement and stainless steel vats. Regular punching down, 25 days of maceration on the skins.
Wine placed in barrels during malolactic fermentation, regular yeast stirring for 2-3 months, 10 months of maturation in second-fill barrels.
TASTING NOTES: A deep ruby red colour. The nose reveals red fruit aromas such as blackcurrant, enhanced by subtle notes of basil and flowers. On the palate, this wine offers meaty tannins that demonstrate its excellent balance between freshness, acidity and body.
