Description
The idea behind Barrell Craft Spirits is to “explore the unique effects of different distillation methods, barrels, and aging environments, and bottle them at cask strength.” This is accomplished through outstanding relationships within the tightly-knit whiskey community and sourcing the best whiskies available without compromise. By definition, the bottlings of Barrell Spirits are limited in nature with new releases hitting the market frequently. Barrels are sourced from around the country (and the world) & shipped to Barrell’s facilities in Georgetown and Frankfurt, Kentucky for additional aging and bottling.
TASTING NOTES: Barrell Bourbon Batch 27 begins with 6-year-old, fruit-forward barrels from Tennessee and 5-year-old, spice-forward barrels from Indiana. To this blend, 13 and 15-year-old barrels with more wood tannin and depth were added along with a select number of 9-year-old barrels with a higher rye content. Finally, 5 and 8-year-old wheated bourbon barrels were added to cohesively bind this vatting’s dynamic characteristics with a delicate brightness.
A complex nose of sweet dessert and herbs introduces a richly textured palate that is at once candied and juicy. Cherry is the star of the show here with a finish of complementing flavors such as blood orange, hibiscus, and rosehip. 57.85% ABV
